Sometimes, the employers we work with have to cancel their shifts or reduce their headcount mere hours before a shift starts. We acknowledge how frustrating it can be when you rearrange your schedule to make certain shifts work, and we appreciate your commitment to showing up.
With that, we’ve made it our policy to cover some of your time if a shift is canceled or reduced within 12 hours of its scheduled start time.
If this happens, all affected workers will be compensated based on the provincial report to work minimum (e.g., 2 hours in BC, 3 hours in Alberta, and Ontario).
These “report to work minimums” are defined at the federal and provincial level and are actually only required if you start work but are sent home before the scheduled end time.
At GigHound—and GigHound only—we’ve taken it a step further to account for the inconvenience of learning of a shift’s cancellation “last minute.”
Workers in the following provinces will receive the associated hour's pay if their shift is canceled within 12 hours of its scheduled start time:
