It is your duty to know and follow all of GigHound’s safety rules and procedures, as well as all of the client’s job site safety rules and procedures. Each employee has specific responsibilities to ensure safety on the job. These include:
- Knowing your job responsibilities and always following job-site rules and safe work practices.
- Recognizing the hazards that may be present on the job and taking precautions to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
- No employee is expected to undertake a job until he or she has received on-site instructions on how to do it properly and has been authorized to perform that job.
- No employee should undertake a job task that appears to be unsafe for any reason.
- Actively participating and cooperating in the overall safety program of GigHound and the client.
- Using the worksite first-aid facilities when necessary.
- Follow applicable legislation and regulations and GigHound’s policies and safe operating procedures;
- Employees can help to ensure their own safety by performing their job duties in a safe manner, leading by example and by using common sense to protect themselves and fellow employees from injury;
- Co-operating with all training initiatives;
- Notify your Supervisor and a GigHound Representative of any requested changes in your job duties, or if you’re asked to operate equipment or perform a task for which you have not been trained await the proper approval to proceed;
- Using all provided safeguards, including personal protective equipment or other devices designed to protect from injury, as required;
- Reporting any unsafe work practices, contraventions of applicable legislation, regulations or hazard following the Incident & Hazard Reporting Policy;
- Advising immediately the Supervisor of any tool or equipment that has not been maintained or that becomes damaged or any defect in any equipment or protective device which may endanger yourself or others;
- Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by GigHound or client, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately;
- Not operating any equipment that has been locked or tagged out;
- Not performing maintenance on any equipment that has not been locked out in accordance with the manufacturer and client’s instruction.
- Not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger you or other workers;
- Not perform any work which is considered prohibitive as noted in this guide.
- Following the clients Hot Work policy as required.
- Following the clients Pre-Use Inspection policy as required.
- In the event of an accident, illness, or injury on the job, the employee must report the incident immediately to his/her immediate Supervisor and a GigHound Representative; and
- Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.
- A worker is not required to participate in a prescribed medical surveillance program unless the worker consents to do so.
